Description:
Bill Harned will present a program based on his research surveying the techniques that are in use in universities in the USA. Bill is currently in his second year of taking lessons with Dr. Adam Zukiewicz at UNC. He spent this past summer studying with him where he is on staff at the International Music Festival of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy. There, Bill performed the entire Ravel Piano Trio and accompanied opera scenes and singers. Also this past summer he participated in the Pablo Casals Music Festival in Prades, France and took lessons with Olivier Gardon, who teaches at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris. He also participated in a summer program in Salzburg, Austria, studying Lieder accompaniment with Mitsumi Moteki, a vocal coach at the University of Colorado. Bill is on the Board of Directors for FCMTA as the secretary. Kris Eveland Lund, MM, MT-BC will discuss her experiences of working with piano students with special needs and how those experiences lead her to seek a second degree in Music Therapy. She will highlight the distinctions between music education and music therapy; sharing ideas about when and how adaptive lessons are appropriate for bridging the spaces between. Kris is excited to present information that furthers her vision for making music accessible to all people.
